Mapping Bulk Electrical Properties with Non-Contact RF Measurements

چکیده
The human body is composed primarily of dielectric tissue with spatially varying permittivity and conductivity. Traditional MRI does not measure these properties. Instead, the conductivity of the patient is a nuisance, causing unpredictable detuning of coils and field inhomogeneities. This thesis presents a method for mapping the electrodynamic properties of the patient's body with both MR and non-MR techniques. Such mapping has direct applications for medical imaging and SAR calculation. Thesis Supervisor: Professor Daniel Sodickson Title: Assistant Professor of Health Sciences and Technology

On the optical and electrical properties of rf and a.c. plasma polymerized aniline thin films
Polyaniline is a widely studied conducting polymer and is a useful material in its bulk and thin film form for many applications, because of its excellent optical and electrical properties. Pristine and iodine doped polyaniline thin films were prepared by a.c. and rf plasma polymerization techniques separately for the comparison of their optical and electrical properties. Doping of iodine was e...

متن کاملSimultaneous Electrical and Thermal Modeling of a Contact-type Rf Mems Switch
Improving the power handling capability of direct contact RF MEMS switches requires a knowledge of conditions at the contact. This paper models the temperature rise in a direct contact RF MEMS switch, including the effects of electrical and thermal contact resistance. The maximum temperature in the beam is found to depend strongly on the power dissipation at the contact, with almost no contribu...
متن کاملNanoscopic Evaluation of Micro-systems
Due to their complex tasks micro-systems are affected in their performance by the local variation of material parameters like mechanical, thermal, optical, electronic and electrical properties. As the active areas of micro-systems are not only in the micrometer range, but in the submicron or nanometer range, evaluation of these features has to be carried out with corresponding spatial resolutio...
متن کاملInfluence of organic compost compounds on soil chemical and physical properties
This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of municipal waste compost and manure on soil chemical and physical properties quality and crop production in Sari city (north of Iran). In this study, the effect of compost and manure (cow and sheep) on the quality of soil organic material with experimental measurements was investigated. An experiment was conducted in a completely randomized desi...
